Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight number BI098, from Dubai to Bandar Seri Begawan, on 15 April 2012, made a precautionary landing in Mumbai, India following an aircraft system alert ‘AFT Cargo Fire’ that necessitated the flight to be diverted to the nearest airport at that time.  BI098 landed safely at Mumbai at 19:24 (GMT +5:30). Royal Brunei Airlines can confirm that no passengers were injured.

After a precautionary landing in Mumbai, Flight BI098 to Bandar Seri Begawan  experienced a slight delay due to the aircraft requiring additional time to ensure that it is serviceable as Royal Brunei Airlines makes the safety of its passengers a priority.

Flight BI098 departed at 3:12pm Mumbai Time. Estimated time of arrival in Bandar Seri Begawan is at 11:10pm Brunei Time.

Royal Brunei Airlines is also arranging travel itineraries for passengers’ onward journey to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Singapore, and Surabaya.

For passengers who will not be able to make same-day connections will stay overnight and Royal Brunei Airlines will provide transport and accommodation.

Royal Brunei Airlines would like to clarify that there was no fire on flight BI098, Dubai to Bandar Seri Begawan.

Royal Brunei Airlines can confirm that all passengers from BI098 have been given accommodation in Mumbai until their scheduled flight to Bandar Seri Begawan on 16 April 2012, 11:30am Brunei Time or 09:00am Mumbai Time.

Royal Brunei Airlines is unable to reroute its passengers on different airlines as all flights departing from Mumbai are operating under full capacity.

Royal Brunei Airlines has been preparing for the return flight of BI098 from Mumbai by getting the aircraft fit for service.

Royal Brunei Airlines sympathises with the passengers and their family. Despite facing   logistical constraints, the airline is making its best effort to ensure assistance for all passengers through RBA staff at Mumbai Airport, Brunei High Commission in India, and RBA’s General Sales Agents (GSA) in India.

Estimated time of departure out of Mumbai will be scheduled at 16 April 2012, 11:30am Brunei Time or 09:00am Mumbai Time.
