Bintulu began as a small fishing village – now it’s a booming industrial town thanks to its offshore natural-gas fields. Situated between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, Bintulu is a central gateway to many ecotourism and cultural attraction of East Malaysia.
Bintulu offers a number of activities to suit different travellers. Hike along the stunning natural trails at the Similajau National Park, or hop on a river cruise and explore this quaint coastal town from traditional long houses and if you’re lucky, you’ll see turtles on the shores of Golden Beach burying their eggs.
