Mobile Check-In and Mobile Boarding Pass

Mobile check-in is now available on Android and Apple iOS mobile devices. You may check-in via your mobile devices anytime, anywhere, at your convenience.

Pass through security and board your flight paperless

By having travel documents all in one personal hand held device, passengers opting to use mobile boarding passes are advised to have sufficient battery power on their preferred handheld mobile devices as it is a requirement to show their mobile boarding passes to pass through security, Immigration and boarding gate. 

Mobile Boarding Pass is available in the following countries:

  • Brunei (BWN)
  • Bangkok (BKK)
  • Kota Kinabalu (BKI)
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
  • Hong Kong (HKG)
  • London / Heathrow (LHR)
  • Dubai (DXB)

If you are flying from an airport that doesn’t currently offer mobile boarding passes, please check-in online on a desktop computer and print out a paper boarding pass for your flight or proceed to check-in at any of our designated check-in counters.

Each passenger is required to display their mobile boarding pass on their personal handheld mobile devices with their passport and other relevant travel documents for Security, Immigration and Boarding checks. This service is not available for: 

  • Passengers who have purchased tickets with infants
  • Unaccompanied minors who require special handling
  • Passengers who require special assistance
  • Passengers traveling on flights not operated by Royal Brunei Airlines

What is online/mobile check-in?

Online / Mobile Check-In is a system that allows passengers to save time at the airport by checking-in online prior to arriving at the airport for your Royal Brunei Airlines flight.

The online / mobile check-in facility is available in most cities in Royal Brunei Airlines network, with the exception of departures from Jeddah.

Where can I check-in online?

Passengers may visit www.flyroyalbrunei.com on desktop and mobile to check-in online and even select or change their seat/s.

I have made a special request in my booking. Am I still eligible to utilize the online / mobile check-in facility?

Online / mobile check-in facility is now available for confirmed bookings with special requests below:

My online/mobile check-in is successful. What must I do next when I arrive at the airport?

Due to security requirements, you are required to proceed to the designated online check-in counters available at both Business and Economy Class check-in areas to obtain your Boarding Pass and to drop-off your luggage, at least one (01) hour before the scheduled departure time of your flight.

For passengers departing from Bandar Seri Begawan / Brunei International Airport and holding tickets issued by RB, with ticket numbers which beginning with 672 and, who has no check-in baggage, may proceed directly to immigration with their online printed boarding pass (A4 Size with the title Boarding Pass printed on top left hand side).

If you are travelling with check-in baggage, you may proceed to the designated online counter at both Business and Economy counter for luggage drop.

If you are holding tickets other than RB ticket but travelling on RB services, you are required to pay your airport tax at:

  • Royal Skies check-in counter for Business Class passenger
  • PSC counter for Economy Class passenger 

For passengers who have checked-in online but receive a document labelled “Confirmation / This is not a boarding pass” on the top left hand corner are advised to proceed to the designated online check-in counters for verification and reprint of boarding pass(es) prior to proceeding to security gates, immigration and boarding gate.

Online check-in counter and Luggage drop-off acceptance will close at 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure time for all destinations, except London which will close at 60 minutes (one hour) prior to scheduled departure time.

I have checked-in online. Is there a time schedule for checked-in luggage drop-off?

Online check-in luggage drop remains the same as per regular check-in. Luggage drop-off acceptance will close at 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure time for all destinations, except London which will close at 60 minutes (one hour) prior to scheduled departure time.

Therefore we advise passengers to arrive at the airport early and set aside ample time for luggage drop-off and immigration security clearance.

Will I be able to print Boarding Passes for codeshare flights?

Online check-in services will not be available for codeshare flights that are not operated by Royal Brunei Airlines.

What types of boarding pass are available?

There are three (3) types of boarding passes:

  • Boarding passes that are printed and issued at the airport check-in counter
  • Self-printed boarding passes in PDF format, which can be printed at your convenience
  • Mobile boarding passes, issued on your mobile device with a QR code.
How can I get a Mobile Boarding Pass?

You can get a mobile boarding pass if:

  • You have checked-in using your mobile device with our mobile check-in facility
  • You don’t require any travel document verification or credit card verification before you fly.
  • You are departing from a city where Mobile Boarding Pass facilities are available.

What devices and operating systems does Mobile Boarding Pass support?

Currently, Mobile Boarding Pass is only available on Apple iOS and Android devices.

Are all passengers eligible to use a Mobile Boarding Pass?

Yes, all passengers on Royal Brunei Airlines who have checked-in via their mobile device departing from available airports are eligible to use Mobile Boarding Pass except for:

  • Passengers who have purchased tickets with infants
  • Unaccompanied minors who require special handling
  • Passengers who require special assistance
  • Passengers traveling on flights not operated by Royal Brunei Airlines
Can I still get a printed boarding pass?

Yes, printed boarding passes are still available should you prefer to not utilize a mobile boarding pass.

If I choose to receive my check-in confirmation via SMS, will I be charged for the service?

We won’t charge you for this service. However, your mobile operator may charge you for SMS delivery, especially if you’re away from your residential country. You’re advised not to reply to the check-in confirmation SMS, as this could incur more charges from your mobile operator.

Can I use my mobile boarding pass to proceed through Immigration, security checkpoint and board my flight?

Yes, your mobile boarding pass can be used to proceed through security checkpoint to board your flight. Simply show your mobile boarding pass and a valid form of identification at security to proceed.

It is important to note that only some airports accept Mobile Boarding Passes.

Will my boarding pass automatically update if there are changes to my flight details?

No. The mobile boarding pass and Apple Wallet pass will not automatically update.

Can I check-in online or on my mobile device for a connecting flight operated by another airline?

No. You may only check-in online or on your mobile device for flights operated by Royal Brunei Airlines.

How can I receive a Mobile Boarding Pass?

After checking in using your mobile device, you can click on the “Mobile Pass” button. Press “Add to Apple Wallet” button for your Mobile Boarding Pass to be added to your mobile device.

For Android devices, please press on ‘Save a Snapshot’ button instead.

What if there is no internet connection, WiFi, or no battery power on my mobile device?

You must present a valid Boarding Pass to board a flight. Please proceed to any designated check-in counters to issue a traditional paper boarding pass.

If I am eligible for lounge access, can I present the Mobile Boarding Pass to enjoy lounge facilities?

Yes. Simply present your Mobile Boarding Pass to the staff at the lounge.

What are the earliest and latest times for sending Mobile Boarding Pass to my mobile device?

Mobile Boarding Pass can be sent from 48 hours up to 60 minutes before scheduled flight departure.

What happens if someone else picks up my mobile device (smartphone or tablets) and tries to use it to board the flight?

At the security check point, the airport security officer will match the name on the travel document with the Mobile Boarding Pass. Any discrepancies found will not be accepted and the passenger will be advised to return to the check in counter to have a traditional boarding pass issued.

Can I display all Mobile Boarding Passes for my travel companions on one mobile device at Immigration, Security and Boarding gate?

No, each passenger must hold their respective boarding passes. If any of your companions does not have a functional mobile device, they are encouraged to self-print their boarding passes or approach any of our designated check-in counters to print their boarding passes.
