Smart Luggage Policy

9 February 2018, 8:32 AM

Dear guests,

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has introduced a new safety regulation on the carriage of Smart Luggage – bags powered by lithium batteries that may include motors, power banks, GPS, GSM, Bluetooth, RFID or Wi-Fi technology.

In line with the regulations the following policy applies on smart luggage on all RB flights:

For cabin baggage (hand-carry):

Smart luggage is allowed as cabin baggage if the lithium battery is removable.
The removable battery can remain installed, with the condition that the smart luggage power must be completely switched off.
RB cabin baggage allowance on the size and weight limit of 7 kg still applies.
For checked baggage:

The lithium battery must be removed from the baggage and the lithium battery must be carried in the cabin.
RB checked baggage allowance on the size and weight limit still applies.
Smart luggage with non-removable lithium battery is not permitted for carriage on all RB flights as cabin or checked baggage.
