Dayang Jurifah, whose family calls her Aunty Jo, takes great pride in cooking for family feasts, often putting in hours of effort to prepare her signature beef soto. Like many Bruneians, she goes the extra mile because she believes that family feasts are a wonderful way to keep familial bonds strong.
When her elderly father needed her care, Zainon’s commitment was never in question. Like many other Bruneians, she believes that her debt to her parents is one that must be repaid.
After retiring as a schoolteacher, Haji Samihon decided to build a fishing lodge to share the joy of fishing with his kampong neighbours. When a flood hit the kampong, destroying much property including the fishing lodge, all the residents banded together to help each other out. Rather than being a disaster, Haji Samihon sees the flood as an opportunity for him and his neighbours to show the kindness that lives in their hearts.
For the last 7 years, Fazillah has devoted himself to the upkeep of the Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque. As a member of the community which the mosque serves, he takes great pride in his work and in seeing how the mosque brings people together.
