Overview

Discover Brunei on a full-day Heritage Tour that will take you to the centres of Bruneian culture. Shop at local markets and visit local houses, learn Brunei’s Malay and Muslim heritage at the museums, and view the collection of treasures, gifts and artefacts of the Royal Family and state dignitaries in this 7-hour tour.

  • Tour departs 0830 hours. Tour commences 30 minutes earlier for hotels located outside city areas.
  • Dress appropriately, wearing non-revealing clothing and/or shorts that are below the knees
  • Bring sunscreen lotion, a hat and/or wear long sleeves for the boat ride
  • Mosques are closed for inside visit on Thursday, Friday, some religious public holidays and at certain times nearer to the prayer time. In the case of the inside visit is not available, it will be photo stop outside only.

Note

For Mosque visits, visitors are requested to dress appropriately, wearing non-revealing clothing and/or shorts that are below the knees. There will be robes given upon entering the mosque. You will also be required to remove your shoes. For Royal Regalia Museum, it is recommended for visitors to wear socks as shoes will need to be removed.

Examine all things local during this full day Heritage Tour which firstly brings you to the splendour of the open markets, a busy place where Bruneians buy their daily local-made goods. Then visit the Malay Technology Museum, a gallery which displays tributes to the lifestyle of Malays and the ethnic tribes of Brunei. The Heritage Tour will also take you to the Brunei Museum that comprises of six galleries, such as the collection of Islamic Arts and many more fascinating cultural features.

Enjoy local cuisine for lunch, then continue to the Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, one of Asia’s most magnificent mosque. Next, venture to Royal Regalia Museum, which was completed in 1992 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan. This astounding building is filled with the Royal Regalia used during The Sultan’s Coronation, the Crown itself, the replica of the throne room, and numerous gifts from state dignitaries.

Take a boat ride to Kampong Ayer’s house visit where you can observe the local lifestyle. Take a piece of Brunei with you for family and friends back home and pick up a souvenir at the The Mall, Gadong. Lastly, end the day with a photo stop at the Istana Nurul Iman, the world’s largest residential palace!
