Royal Brunei Airlines Celebrate Inaugural Flight to Bintulu, Sarawak

Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) celebrated the launch of its inaugural flight to Bintulu at Bintulu Airport, Sarawak on 5th November 2019.

Present at the celebration was Mr Muhammad Dino bin Amid, Bintulu District Officer as the guest of honour. Mr Zainuddin Mohamed, Senior Manager Route Development, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. Mr James Millett, Royal Brunei’s Senior Vice President – Digital & Marketing. Tuan Haji Mohamad Ibrahim Nordin and Tuan Haji Zolkipli bin Mohamad Aton of Sarawak Tourism Board. The celebration was hosted by Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad in partnership with Sarawak Tourism attended by guests and media.

“We are very proud to be the first international airline to fly to Bintulu in the Malaysian state of Sarawak. We are delighted to introduce Bintulu as our next destination city in Phase one of the RB Link regional initiative connecting cities and towns within Borneo Island. Bintulu and its neighbouring towns will benefit from our value pricing and five star full service product as well as seamless connections through Brunei to many international markets such as China, Japan, UK and Australia which offer great tourism and export opportunities. It’s another important and exciting step in our goal to make travel easier within Borneo and beyond.” said Mr James Millett, RB’s Senior Vice President – Digital & Marketing.

According to group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, “We are delighted that after its inaugural flight to Sandakan last week, we now welcome Royal Brunei Airlines to Bintulu Airport. As of September 2019, Bintulu Airport recorded a 23.6% increase in passenger movement compared to the same period last year. With this new international route to Bintulu, I believe Royal Brunei will further strengthen the growing demands between these two destinations and elevate the tourism industry for Sarawak.”

Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Tourism Board, Sharzede Datu Hj Salleh Askor said, “Sarawak tourism sees this as a strategic partnership with Royal Brunei in the promotion of Sarawak on the Visit Sarawak Campaign, we are partnering in a right direction”. She is confident that the new routing will give our tourists and visitors a chance to experience new and diverse products and destinations while at the same time will open opportunities for those outbound tourists from Bintulu and the business communities another hub meeting their travelling needs.

RB Link flights provide guests with a full-service experience, including a light snack and drink service (for flights over one hour), and Checked baggage allowance of 15kg or, for connecting guests, weight in-line with international fare rules (starting from 30kg in Economy class). The aircraft can accommodate 72 all economy class seats with 4 preferred seats on a 43-inch seat pitch and 6 preferred seats with 33-inch seat pitch. Guests on board will enjoy RB’s signature service, Muhibah in-flight magazine, and are able to use their personal electronic devices for entertainment.

 

The first flight arrived at Bintulu Airport at 2025hrs and was welcomed with a water canon salute. The five times weekly flight to Bintulu as per below schedule.
