Baggage Allowance

Royal Brunei Airlines offers a check-in baggage allowance of:

  • 30 or 40 kg for Business Class Passengers
  • 20 kg or 25 kg for Economy Class Passengers

*Baggage allowance is dependent on booking class and is stated on passenger's electronic ticket.

Please ensure that each piece of luggage does not weigh more than 32 kg.

Excess Baggage

Any baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance must be charged for irrespective of the class of travel. The charges may be found on the page Excess Baggage Rates.

Special Baggage Charges

For baggage that is intended to be checked in for a flight, it’s outside dimensions should not exceed the sum of 62 inches per piece. If any piece of checked baggage has exceeded the 62 inches, the following conversion rate is used to determine the cost of carriage:-

Unit of Measurement
Equivalent Weight
366 cu.inches
1kg
6000 cu.cm
1kg

Compare the actual weight with the volumetric equivalent weight and charge the higher.

Carriage of volumetric baggage is subject to space available in the aircraft cargo hold. A passenger's free baggage allowance may be considered when excess baggage weight is charged.

Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment may be carried as part of the free baggage allowance in accordance to the class of travel. A passenger who checks in eligible sporting equipment will be granted a 5 kg OR 12kg waiver of excess baggage charges when eligible sporting equipment is checked in.

The 5kg OR 12kg waiver may not be combined with ANY other waiver. For example if a Royal Skies Silver member checks in with eligible sporting equipment only the 10kg Royal Skies waiver will apply.

The following items of eligible sporting equipment are accorded a 5kg waiver and may be included as part of a passenger’s free baggage allowance:

  • Snow/Water ski equipment
  • Angling equipment
  • Surfboards and Surfing Equipment (not windsurfing)
  • Bowling Balls

The following items of eligible sporting equipment are accorded a 12kg waiver and may be included as part of a passenger’s free baggage allowance:

  • Golf Equipment
  • Bicycles
  • Diving Equipment

Note: The equipment must be properly packed to avoid damage.

Bicycles must be packed in a manner where the handle bars are positioned in the same direction as the bicycle frame. Parts such as pedals, lamps, mirrors, and bicycle stand must be dismantled. Tyres must be deflated.

Diving equipment including knives must be carried in checked baggage. Spear guns must be unloaded with the spear packed separately. Compressed air tanks will only be accepted if empty and the valve open. Flares are dangerous goods that may not be carried as checked baggage.

Sailboards used for Windsurfing are not acceptable as checked baggage due to their size and may only be carried as manifested cargo.
