Seat Selection

Who can purchase preferred seats?

Preferred seats are sold at a first-come-first-serve basis to guests who have purchased an air ticket on the flight. Anyone is eligible to purchase seats located at front rows. However for the purchase of emergency exit rows, guests must meet the health and safety requirements.

For Royal Skies Elite Gold members, you may contact your local Royal Brunei Office to book Standard or Preferred Seats free of charge for yourself and one of your travelling companions.
For Royal Skies Silver members, you may request for preferred seats free of charge during check-in, subject to seats availability.

Will Preferred Seats be available on all flights?

Yes, it is available on all Royal Brunei operated flights.

How can I purchase preferred seats?

You can purchase preferred seats up to 3 days before departure through Manage my Booking or 4 hours prior to scheduled departure through any of RB’s Customer Service Centres.

Can I use my miles to pay for Preferred Seats?

No, you may not as it is currently not available.

If I have purchased a Preferred Seat, can I still change my seat online?

All seat selections made in advance are non-refundable and non-transferable to another seat or flight.

If your new seat selection requires a fee, the amount you paid for your previous selection will not be used to offset your new selection. However, you can change your seat for free (except for Preferred Seats) when online check-in opens 48 hours prior to flight departure.

I paid for a Preferred Seat. Can I get a refund or transfer the seat if I cancel or make changes to my booking?

If you have cancelled your booking, fee paid for Preferred Seat(s) will be refunded. Please note that cancellations fees apply.

Fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you made dates changes to your booking, the fee paid for Preferred Seat is forfeited.

Can I change my seat during online check-in?

Yes, you can. However, you can only change to standard seats and there is no refund if you have already paid for a Preferred Seat.

I am traveling with an infant. Will I get a Bassinet Seat?

Bassinets are located in the Preferred Seating area. To secure a bassinet seat, you will have to purchase a preferred seat. Bassinets are limited and we recommend contacting your nearest RB office to book a bassinet

What is advance seat selection?

When booking a flight with Royal Brunei Airlines, guests will have the option to select standard seats in advance. Depending on the fare type, class of travel and Royal Skies membership tier, guests may be required to pay an advance seat selection fee.

If you prefer not to select your seat in advance, you may enjoy complimentary seat selection, except for Preferred Seat, from the remaining available seats when online check-in opens 48 hours prior to scheduled flight departure.

Please note that this function is not available on mobile app check-in.

Do I have to pay to select my seats in advance?

Guests traveling on Business Class will enjoy complimentary seat selection at all times. RB Flexi fare allows guests to have access to complimentary Standard and Preferred Seat in advance. For guests purchasing RB Value and RB Saver fares, guests can select Standard and Preferred Seats for a small fee.

Do I have to pay a seat selection fee for each flight if I have multiple flights in my itinerary?

Advance seat selection is dependent on the fare type you choose and for each segment of your trip.

My ticket was issued before 14 May 2019 and I have already selected a seat. Will I lose my seat now that the fare conditions have changed?

No, any existing seats you have selected will not change as long as your ticket was issued before 14 May 2019. This applies to all fare types in Economy Class.

My ticket on an RB Saver fare was issued before 14 May 2019 but I have not selected a seat. Will I be able to select a seat in advance, now that the fare conditions have changed?

Yes, you will be able to select seats in advance for a fee.

How can I purchase a seat selection in advance?

There are three (3) ways you can purchase a seat selection in advance:

  1. During the booking process – the cost of your seat selection (if applicable) will be added to your total fare in your booking summary.
  2. In Manage My Booking – enter your booking reference and last name, select the seat of your choice and make payment.
  3. Contact your nearest RB Customer Service Centre

Will I be able to sit on an Emergency Exit Row seat?

The purchase of emergency exit row seats are subjected to strict flight safety guidelines of the Department of Civil Aviation Brunei. Royal Brunei will not hesitate to reassign the seats, without refunding the fee paid, for those who do not meet these guidelines.

Can I change my seat after I've selected one?

All seat selection made in advance are non-refundable or transferable to another seat or another flight. If you change to a seat that requires a fee, the amount you paid for your previous selection will not be used to offset your new selection. However, you can change your seat for free (except for Preferred Seats) when online check-in opens 48 hours prior to scheduled departure.

If I upgrade my fare type from RB Saver to RB Flexi, will I be refunded for the Standard Seat I paid for when I purchased the RB Saver fare?

No, paid seat selections are not refundable.

I've selected my Standard Seat in advance, however the aircraft has changed. Will I be allocated the same seat on the new aircraft?

If a similar seat is available, Royal Brunei Airlines will re-accommodate you to that seat on the new aircraft. If we are unable to offer you a similar seat, you will be fully refunded excluding bank charges. Please note that seat numbering may be different on different aircrafts.

I've selected a seat in advance but changed my flight. Do I get to keep my seat on the new flight?

No, all seat selections made in advance are non-transferable. You may select a new seat in advance if you have purchased an eligible fare, subject to seat availability and seat selection conditions of your new itinerary.

I have paid for a seat. Can I get a refund if I cancel my booking?

If you have cancelled your booking, fee paid for the seats will be refunded. Please note that associated booking cancellation fee applies.

I've paid to select a Standard Seat in advance but would like to select a Preferred Seat instead. Can I top up the difference for this selection?

No, all seat selection made in advance are non-transferable and the amount paid for your previous selection will not be used to offset your new selection. You can, however, select the Preferred Seats at a full fee.

How do the changes to seat selection affect Royal Skies members?

Royal Skies Gold members may select seats, Standard or Preferred Seats, in advance for yourself and one (1) travel companion for free at reservation regardless of the fare type you choose.

Royal Skies Silver members may enjoy complimentary Preferred Seat selection (subject to availability) upon check-in. For Standard Seat, guest may be subjected to advance seat selection fee depending on the fare type you choose.

Royal Skies Blue member may be subject to advance seat selection depending on the fare type you choose.

For Royal Skies Silver and Blue member, if you prefer not to select your seat in advance, you may enjoy complimentary Standard Seat selection from the remaining available seats when online check-in opens 48 hours prior to scheduled departure.

If my Royal Skies status has changed and I'm now eligible to select Standard and/or Preferred seats for free, will I receive refunds for the seats I've purchased from flights I haven't yet flown?

No, all seat selections made in advance are non-refundable and non-transferable.

I've purchased a RB Saver fare and selected a Preferred Seat as a Royal Skies Gold member. However, I've recently been downgraded to Royal Skies Silver where Preferred Seat is payable. Do I get to keep my seat?

Yes, the selected seat will be yours even if your membership expires before the day of departure, as long as you do not make any changes to your seat or booking.

What are the new conditions for seat selection on redemption awards?

Guest who redeem for award ticket and wishes to select seat in advance are subject to a full fee.
