What types of boarding passes are available?
There are three (3) types of boarding passes:
- Boarding passes that are printed and issued at the airport check-in counter
- Self-printed boarding passes in PDF format, which can be printed at your convenience
- Mobile boarding passes, issued on your mobile device with a QR code.
How can I get a mobile boarding pass?
You can get a mobile boarding pass if:
- You have checked-in using your mobile device with our mobile check-in facility
- You don’t require any travel document verification or credit card verification before you fly.
- You are departing from a city where Mobile Boarding Pass facilities are available.
Where is mobile boarding pass available?
Mobile Boarding Pass is available in the following countries:
- Brunei (BWN)
- Bangkok (BKK)
- Kota Kinabalu (BKI)
- Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
- Kuching (KCH)
- Hong Kong (HKG)
- Melbourne (MEL)
- London / Heathrow (LHR)
- Dubai (DXB)
If you are flying from an airport that doesn’t currently offer mobile boarding passes, please check-in online on a desktop computer and print out a paper boarding pass for your flight or proceed to check-in at any of our designated check-in counters.
What devices and operating systems does mobile boarding pass support?
Currently, Mobile Boarding Pass is only available on Apple iOS and Android devices.
Are all passengers eligible to use a mobile boarding pass?
Yes, all passengers on Royal Brunei Airlines who have checked-in via their mobile device departing from available airports are eligible to use Mobile Boarding Pass except for:
- Passengers who have purchased tickets with infants
- Unaccompanied minors who require special handling
- Guests who require special assistance
- Guests traveling on flights not operated by Royal Brunei Airlines
Can I still get a printed boarding pass?
Yes, printed boarding passes are still available should you prefer to not utilize a mobile boarding pass.
If I choose to receive my check-in confirmation via SMS, will I be charged for the service?
We won’t charge you for this service. However, your mobile operator may charge you for SMS delivery, especially if you’re away from your residential country. You’re advised not to reply to the check-in confirmation SMS, as this could incur more charges from your mobile operator.
Can I use my mobile boarding pass to proceed through immigration, security checkpoint and board my flight?
Yes, your mobile boarding pass can be used to proceed through security checkpoint to board your flight. Simply show your mobile boarding pass and a valid form of identification at security to proceed.
It is important to note that only some airports accept Mobile Boarding Passes.

- London / Heathrow (LHR)

Will my mobile boarding pass automatically update if there are changes to my flight details?
No. The mobile boarding pass and Apple Wallet pass will not automatically update.
Can I check-in online or on my mobile device for a connecting flight operated by another airline?
No. You may only check-in online on your mobile device for flights operated by Royal Brunei Airlines (BI).
How can I receive a mobile boarding pass?
After checking in using your mobile device, you can click on the “Mobile Pass” button. Press “Add to Apple Wallet” button for your Mobile Boarding Pass to be added to your mobile device.
For Android devices, please press on ‘Save a Snapshot’ button instead.
What if there is no internet connection, Wi-fi, or no battery power on my mobile device?
You must present a valid Boarding Pass to board a flight. Please proceed to any designated check-in counters to issue a traditional paper boarding pass.
If I am eligible for lounge access, can I present my mobile boarding pass to enjoy lounge facilities?
Yes. Simply present your Mobile Boarding Pass to the staff at the lounge.
What are the earliest and latest times for sending mobile boarding pass to my mobile device?
Mobile Boarding Pass can be sent from 48 hours up to 60 minutes before scheduled flight departure.
What happens if someone else picks up my mobile device (smartphone or tablets) and tries to use it to board the flight?
At the security check point, the airport security officer will match the name on the travel document with the Mobile Boarding Pass. Any discrepancies found will not be accepted and the guest will be advised to return to the check in counter to have a traditional boarding pass issued.
Can I display all mobile boarding passes for my travel companions on one mobile device at immigration, security and boarding gate?
No, each passenger must hold their respective boarding passes. If any of your companions does not have a functional mobile device, they are encouraged to self-print their boarding passes or approach any of our designated check-in counters to print their boarding passes.
